Taking a break during the day can actually increase productivity! Recent studies show that those who enjoy a of diversion or distraction once an hour perform better than those who just keep at it without a break. Focusing on a single task hour after hour causes our brain to go "numb", slowing down thoughts and creativity. Having a 5-10 minute, fun diversion of talking to a friend, watching a short video or even checking social media can reignite the brain. Even better - get up to stretch or take a walk over to the window, to the water cooler or coffee pot, or take a walk outside. Physical and mental activity refreshes the brain and increases creativity!
